If your bank charges high fees, you can create a Revolut account. It is free and allows you to exchange money online without fees on weekdays. You can also order the physical card (around 12,000 KRW / 8 USD) for in-person payments.

⇒ In some situations, credit cards are not accepted, so it is important to carry cash. While you can withdraw at convenience stores, the fees are often much higher than at Korean banks (You can go to Woori Bank or KB Bank for example).
