Things to do in Seoul for Christmas 2023.

It’s time ! Christmas has finally come in Seoul. For the occasion the city is full of amazing decoration and illumination every year and 2023 is no exception. Here are some places you need to add to your Christmas bucket list: places to visit !

Seoul Lantern Festival

The 15th Edition of Seoul Lantern Festival will open soon! Come to Gwanghwamun Square, Sejongno Park, Cheonggyecheon Square and Seoul Plaza and enjoy all the attractions there. From December 15, 2023 to January 21, 2024 you can see dragon sculpture, large scale light sculpture and you can also eat at the winter food zone !

Myeongdeong Cathedrale Christmas lights 2023.

Completed in 1898 this cathedral is the birthplace of the Korean Catholic Church, it has a whole history and it’s a very beautiful place to visit.In Christmas time and during the night you will have a beautiful outdoor scenery. You will see a lot of amazing illumination and a lot of people will stop by to take a few pictures, especially at the rose garden. The illumination stops at midnight, until then you can also enjoy Christmas Crib illumination outside.

Ice Skating at Seoul Plaza

Seoul plaza hosts every year since 2004 a huge ice skating rink. From December 22nd, 2023 until mid-February you can come and enjoy Seoul’s biggest Christmas ice-skating rinks with your friend or your family. During the weekdays it’s open from 10am to 21:30 and until 23:00 during weekends. Also Seoul Plaza hosts a big Christmas tree which is very colorful and looks good at any time of the day.

The Hyundae Seoul Mall

The Hyundai Seoul Mall is a chic mall with many levels. On the 6th floor it hosts the largest indoor Chritsmas display in Korea, covering over 3,000 square meters. It is a whole village which has more than 20 Christmas stores. In 2023 this Christmas village has a theme of “La boutique d’Harry” which refers to a European white Christmas with alpine chalets and French Signs.

Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Since 2019 the DDP Seoul light shows illuminations and projections on the side of the curved and ultra sleek building. It attracted over 1 million visitors and is one of the most popular winter festivals in Seoul.
