Must-see light festivals in Korea

Although most light festivals take place during the winter period, some of them are all year round, others can still be seen nowadays, and mostly, you can be prepared for winter and your next time in Korea!  So here are 5 must-see light festivals which will remain in your memories and make your trip to Korea even more unforgettable!

1. Lighting Festival at The Garden of Morning Calm (Gapyeong)

This festival is known to be one of the largest light festivals with more than 330 000 square meters. In this huge area of lights, in the city of Gapyeong, from sunset to 9PM on weekdays, and 11PM on Saturdays, you can enjoy the beautiful show of those illuminations. Don’t hesitate to prepare enough time to appreciate the entire garden as you can explore it during two hours of walk. In this part of the country in winter, and even more at night, the weather can be cold so you must wear warm clothes to make the most of this spectacular show!

2. Haeundae Light Festival (Haeundae)

Not far from Busan this festival near the sea will offer you a unique experience. If you want to be immersed in a fairytale this is your opportunity. With the blazing castle there will be no doubt. And the highlight of the event is that the access is completely free so don’t miss this opportunity if you travel near this region! And as a bonus experience you can even put your Christmas wishes in a huge red box present if you go at Christmastime!

3. Jeju Light Garden (Jeju island)

Located in the south island of the peninsula, this festival is an after-day resource as it is open until 12AM! Perfect to discover the island during the day and then come to see this bright event at night to rest and appreciate the exhibition. To finish your day restoration points are also available near the exhibition place. Most importantly, it is open all the year so you can enjoy it when you visit the island anytime! And of course for couples don’t hesitate to take your photo with the famous love swan!

4. E-World Illumination (Daegu)

With more than ten million lights, the 83 Tower and E-world are illuminated to light Daegu and put stars in people’s eyes! With parades and light tunnels expect the world to shine around you! .And to make this moment live forever, don’t hesitate to take as many photos as you can on the photo spots to keep those memories with you. And of course, alone or with your family or friends, once you get there make sure to try all the rides of E-world while the lights are on!

For those who want to enter the Santa village, this is the place to be!
